Why Focus On Environment And development?

Sustainability of forest use, conservation of nature and management contributes to poverty alleviation and development. The biggest challenge facing the work today is to conserve our beautiful nature and to use all nature provides to sustain development. CNCD is therefore present to put in place appropriate models to foster communities to be able to harness and channel their scarce productive resources to sectors and activities capable of promoting efficient production and equitable distribution of the outputs to benefit a greater part of the community. It is equally important to know that providing the essential tools and knowledge for the conservation of the environment will help build local capacities and create variable auspices for a further conservation initiation.

  • CNCD carries out research and education that contributes to the understanding of complex cultural and environmental relationship and natural resource problem solving.
  • CNCD also contributes in the elaboration and implementation of appropriate policy reforms in the domain of environment and development.
  • It put in place sustainable strategies for the conservation and utilization of biodiversity.
  • It equally assists the local population in putting in place projects that contribute to local development and poverty alleviation.

CNCD stand in Gender

CNCD shares the global consensus on the meaning of gender. It defines gender as the economic, social, political and cultural attributes and opportunities associated with being male or female. CNCD acknowledges that in many societies’ men and women differ in the activities they undertake, access to use and control resources, and their participation in decision making. Men in most cases have been more advantaged in this respect at the detriment of women, thus evolving the question of the place of the women. To ensure therefore that men and women alike are implicated in the development processes, CNCD has incorporated a gender page.  By so doing, CNCD is committed to reinforcing issues of gender parity within the organization and in its areas of interests. It also contributes to environmental hygiene and sanitation by promoting environmental stewardship.
